A. It depends on the type of article and who it was written for. News stories published in newspapers are usually on a subject assigned by an editor and don't carry a byline, but opinion pieces - especially if they don't reflect the "official" opinion of the newspaper's editorial board - usually have the writer listed. It also may depend on whether the writer or the publisher owns the article.
